We hung my show at Tweed River Art Gallery yesterday. This is one of the pieces I finished in the last few days, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's swimming pool at the Fallingwater house. The exhibition opens this Friday at 6pm, although you can preview from Wednesday March 4.
A friend and I braved torrential rain to get to the last day of Shane Cotton's show at the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane. His target prints were fantastic.
Linde Ivimey's show at The University of Queensland is worth a visit. It is a huge collection of intricate woven and sewn sculpture, with a really comprehensive catalogue. The High Line Zoo Chelsea NY (photo from June 2012). The High Line is a revamped old railway line that was used to transport goods between the factories, above all the traffic of the streets. These days it is has some great public art and cafes, and places just to stop and take in the view.
I have been re-looking at a few photos from last June. This one is from a place we stopped in Pennsylvania, on the way to see Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water house.

It is a huge show - and it helps to have a tour to get a quick overview, and then check out various spaces more intently. It shows art that geographically represents half the world.
Standouts for me were: An-My Le, a Vietnamese American Photographer (she uses a large format 8x10 View Camera from the 19th Century) and Susan Jacobs, Australian Sculptor. The above shot is taken from the third floor looking down on the foyer gallery. Waiting at the Goldcoast airport for a flight to Auckland. It's been raining heavily and the flight is delayed for an hour.
I liked the shapes in this photo - the composition might make a good sculpture. The Swell Sculpture Festival 2012 video has just been released by Fotomedia.
